14. McMurdo Station, Antarctica
Being used as a research base for more than 1,200 scientists, the McMurdo Station can be considered as one of the most remote places on earth. The population may vary from 250 to 1,250 depending on the season. Scientific missions never stop at this station, and from 1986 to 2006 there have been more than 10,859 dives.
